I know the title of this blog post may seem backwards, but hear me out. I’m going to lay out some knowledge about safe sex that was spawned by my curiosity of a rap lyric that I heard last year. As I started to dive into the wormhole of the artist’s messaging I learned some interesting and important facts that usually are forgotten when we are lost in the moment of intimacy.
G-Eazy’s “No Limit” Lyrics are Trying to Tell Us Something…
In the iconic 2017 rap song “No Limit” by G-Eazy, we were given a hard-hitting ballad of his sex checklist before his “girl” becomes “wifey”. While I was bumping to this beat on repeat, a certain line stuck out to me that I had to look into.
“Man this year, I had three hundred one night stands
Keep a Costco pack of rubbers in my night stand”
Is G-Eazy trying to tell me something? Is he tapping into our subconscious? Is he really smashing all these women? So many thoughts were going through my head so I knew I had to make sense of it all.
Most often, artists use subliminal messaging to relay an agenda. Was G-Eazy sharing with us that his endless supply of rubbers meant that safe sex is great sex? Yea, seems a little farfetched but stay with me…
Why has condom use declined in the last few years?
A common misconception is that condoms get in the way of feeling, sensation, and comfort during sex. Many people resort to pulling out, expensive birth control, or plan B. But don’t forget, pregnancy is not the only thing you should be preventing.
In a 2017 CNN article the CDC stated that new cases of STDs hit record highs with more than 2 million Americans infected with gonorrhea, syphilis and chlamydia, the highest number of these sexually transmitted diseases ever reported.
What about oral STDs/STIs?
Oral sex STDs have gone up because it was something that was never reported till recently. The Center for Disease Control, American Sexual Health Association, and many sex experts agree that using preventative accessories during oral sex is encouraged to reduce the oral STD risk.

Get Tested Regularly
Getting tested regularly keeps you and your partner(s) healthy. You may not have symptoms so you never know if you’ve contracted anything. Regular testing protects you from long-term health problems plus it keeps you from spreading anything you may have.
Planned Parenthood and FreeSTDCheck.org
offer free clinics/travel clinics to anyone seeking to get tested. Find one near you; better safe than sorry.
Don’t worry, if you do have an STD/STI it’s not the end of the world. For some, there are treatments, medication, or therapies to get rid of or mitigate the disease; please consult your doctor before considering/using treatments. Condoms are the number one defense against STDs/STIs and help prevent the spread of diseases so you can still enjoy sex, without the risk of harming your partner.
So, if you’re like G-Eazy, smashing all those partners, just a normal person with a normal sex life, or you fall somewhere in between, we can all apply the concept of “a Costco pack of rubbers in my nightstand” to our lives so we can keep having safe sexual adventures without all the other BS.
