A Step By Step Guide on How to Use a Condom

A Step By Step Guide on How to Use a Condom

Condoms are an important and popular contraceptive to prevent pregnancy and STDs while still enjoying intimacy with your partner. While they are easy and straightforward to use once you get the hang of it, there are a few steps to keep in mind to use them responsibly. Here is a step by step guide (along with some tips) on how to use a condom

Step One - Research and Get Informed

Above everything else, it’s always important to not only practice safe sex, but also know how to do it right each time. It’s easy to miss a few crucial points, especially if you are new to intimacy.

Believe it or not, condoms come in many different sizes and textures. Knowing which ones will fit you the best will save you the headache of constantly trying new brands. Record your measurements, know your preferences, and set out to find the right condom that fits you and your needs like a glove.

It doesn’t hurt to ask your partner either. Who knows? Maybe they would prefer something flavored to spice things up!

Lastly, keep in mind that condoms do not last forever and their effectiveness degrades overtime. Even if you have a new pack, always double check the expiration date to ensure you are using your condoms at their prime!

Step Two - Carefully Open the Package

When the mood strikes, condom packaging is designed to be opened with ease. With this in mind, it is not necessary to forcefully rip or shred the packaging apart. Further, always check for an air bubble inside the packaging before opening, and refrain from using any condoms that don’t have one. This could indicate that there is a hole in the condom. Better safe than sorry!

Step Three - Flip to the Correct Side

Condoms have what some call “hats” at the top which indicates the correct side. Place the pointed part facing upwards at the top of the penis.

Step Four - Make Room for Liquid

Before rolling down the shaft, carefully pinch the pointed “hat” part to release any air inside. Trapped air could create excessive pressure in the condom and cause it to break during intercourse. Not good!

Step Five - Roll All the Way Down

Using the rounded edge of the condom, roll it fully down the shaft of the penis until there is no more shaft to cover. You can even ask your partner to do it for you to keep the mood stimulating, if you’d like.

This is also a great time to add some lube to eliminate any discomfort!

Step Six - Withdraw with Care

Once the deed is done, hold on to that rounded edge once again to withdraw, ideally before you lose your erection. This is to prevent the possibility of the condom slipping off before it is supposed to.

Step Seven - Properly Dispose

Cleaning up is easy. Simply slip the condom off the penis, tie off the top, wrap in tissue paper, and dispose of it in the trash. Do not flush condoms down the toilet, as this will cause problems with your water pipes. Don’t forget to help your partner clean up as well!

Final Thoughts

Using condoms is straightforward and using them doesn’t have to be a daunting experience. Keeping these steps and tips in mind will ensure that you and your partner have both safe and enjoyable sex each time.
